Home / Carbon Accounting & Net Zero

Carbon accounting and net zero plans you can stand behind.

We measure your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions with methods aligned to the GHG Protocol, then turn the numbers into a costed decarbonization plan your leadership can approve.

The basics

Scope 1, 2 and 3 in plain English

Scope 1 covers emissions you create directly: fuel burned in boilers, generators and company vehicles, plus refrigerant leaks. Scope 2 covers the electricity, heat or steam you buy. Scope 3 covers everything else in your value chain, from purchased goods and business travel to how customers use and dispose of your products.

Most organizations start with Scope 1 and 2, because the data sits in utility bills and fuel records. Scope 3 is usually the largest share of the footprint and the one customers increasingly ask about, so we screen it early and focus on the categories that matter.

Carbon accounting

Net zero

Net zero and decarbonization strategy

Targets only matter if there is a plan to reach them. We cost and sequence the measures.

What we do

  • Reduction target options and pathways
  • Energy efficiency, electrification and renewable energy options

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?

Scope 1 is direct emissions from sources you own or control, such as fuel and refrigerants. Scope 2 is emissions from the electricity, heat or steam you buy. Scope 3 is all other indirect emissions in your value chain, such as purchased goods, travel and product use.

What data do you need for a first greenhouse gas inventory?

Usually twelve months of utility bills, fuel and fleet records, refrigerant service records and, for Scope 3, spending by category and business travel data. We provide templates and work with whatever records you have.

What is the difference between net zero and carbon neutral?

Carbon neutral claims usually rely on buying offsets to balance current emissions. Net zero means cutting emissions deeply across all scopes in line with climate science and only neutralizing a small remainder. We help you choose and describe targets accurately.

Do you verify emissions inventories?

We prepare inventories aligned to the GHG Protocol and get them ready for review. Independent third-party verification, where you need it, is carried out by an accredited verifier.

Can you help with grants or incentives for decarbonization projects?

Yes. We match projects to available incentives and grant programs and prepare the applications. See our grant writing and funding service.
